The Arturia KeyLab 61 may look like a controller, but it’s actually a powerful hybrid synth. Arturia gives you tons of hands-on control. In addition to the 61 velocity-sensitive keys with aftertouch, 13 encoders, 16 pads, and nine sliders, you get Analog Lab software, with 5,000 fantastic presets from Arturia’s Modular V, CS-80V, Mini V, Arp 2600V, Jupiter 8V, Prophet V, Oberheim SEM V, and Wurlitzer V. If portability, hands-on control, and amazing sounds are on your must-have list, here’s what you need: the Arturia KeyLab 61.

At first glance, this is a well-constructed controller made from aluminum and wood, very well configurable and feature-rich. Rubberized rotary encoders, faders and pads give it a really nice feel. However, after only 1 hour of using mine, the pitch wheel’s return-to-center mechanism broke and I also noticed two sharp keys were not as sensitive as all the others. This unfortunately makes it a useless musical instrument to me. It must be reliable in performing its primary function. Who knows how fast other components would deteriorate after time. I am returning this.

Had two of them crap out now. Almost DOA.
Know how it feels all nice quality? Well, it ain’t. They just glue weights inside of the keys to make it feel heavier and better constructed. I know this, because the literally fell off the keys. That’s right. The glue just failed and the key weights fell apart. This stuff is garbage, I think Arturia is going out of business. There’s no way they could be sustained with this poor of product and even worse "support". 0 ![]() Lemons make tears,

I bought a brand new one from the guitar center and when I installed the Analog Lab software and tried to check it’s sounds out, I only had 6 working keys on the entire 61 key keyboard. It didn’t’ work right out of the box. I called the guitar center and spoke to a tech who had me run some tests to see if midi was sending in midi control center part of the software, but he said it sounded like a defective keyboard. Friends of mine who have had dozens of controllers said that the problem was rare with other controllers that had owned. I think Arturia looks good and has the concept–but they haven’t learned how to keep up with the defects. I will return this keyboard and get a novation most likely. Next time I will read the reviews more carefully before purchasing. I hope I have saved some poor soul out there from being excited only to task something new out of the box only to have it turn into a lemon and make them cry before their very eyes. Best of luck on this one fellow musicians.
