This Drum Pedal was pretty much ready to go out of the box just a few adjustments to the beater rod mechanism for perfect pounding on the bass drum. It appears to be made pretty well (Definitely better than the one that broke on my Ludwig CS Combo) and it has a nice clamp with a rubber pad on it that clamps the pedal to your bass drum so it doesn’t scratch it. Also the most critical part on beater rod mechanism that you use to space the beater from your bass drum head has a grooved wheel on it and then you use the drum key to tighten the bolt onto the grooved wheel and it keeps the beater perfectly spaced just the way you want it. I believe this is a good buy and great price compared to other drum pedals with a much higher price and only have a single chain.

For the most part, the pedal is solid, great motion, controllable. All around great with one problem: The design of the mechanism to attach to the bass drum rim is very poor. I don’t understand how they can make such a great pedal and then completely sacrifice on the one of the most important features… Simply put, the rivet on the arm component comes loose after very little use and makes it almost impossible to keep the pedal from sliding of the bass drum rim. I had to rig/update the mechanism myself. After that, the pedal stayed tight.

I laugh when something that by function needs to be heavy duty seems compelled to name it’s model "heavy duty"… Uh, if it wasn’t heavy duty, it would break within a week of the constant pounding it dishes out simply because it’s a percussion instrument. So, if something that is supposed to be heavy duty anyway, SAYS it’s heavy duty, my inclination is to NOT BELIEVE IT. And this is the case with this beater. I’m only using it in my studio electric kit, so it doesn’t get the pounding a kick pedal would get, say from a pro drummer performing 5-6 gigs a week. I think this pedal would fail in the first month. That said, it is pretty well constructed, but uses pot metal for the pedal and support struts. The spring is flimsy and it just doesn’t have the heft you’d expect for something saying it’s "heavy duty"…. But, the price is right, and as long as you’re not going out on a rock band tour, it’s fine.
